Seiyu Nana Mizuki Tops The Charts

As of last week, Nana Mizuki, the voice actress (Seiyu) behind great characters like Fate Testarossa of Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha The Movie 1st, Kanon Seena in Shining Wind and Hinata Hyuga from Naruto Shippuden became the first anime voice actress to top the music charts in Japan!  Most of you know that the voice actresses in Japan are mainly singers and musicians and Miss Mizuki's accomplishment is a testament to her talent and the talent of other Seiyu.  Her song "Phantom Minds" sold an amazing 54,000 copies last week and the song is the theme behind Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha The Movie 1st.  Anime may not be striking the main-stream here in America (like it was pre-2000 -_-) but I think it's about time the movie and music industries here should take some notes from those with talent.

More info at ANN.

Romeo X Juliet Music

Got to sit down and watch the amazing Romeo X Juliet anime in the last few days. I know, I'm a bit late, the series came out in 2007, but hey, been busy -_-. I'll make minor (spoiler-less) review of it on Chuck's Anime Shrine, but for here on anime.fm, let's talk about the music of Romeo X Juliet...

Throughout the series, in the opening and embedded in almost all the background music is the popular song "You Raise Me Up" called "Inori~You Raise Me Up" beautifully done in both Japanese and English by Lena Park. Also heard in the ending sequence is the song "Cyclone" by 12012. "Cyclone" is in half of the series's ending and though a J-Rock song that's the complete opposite of the "You Raise Me Up", it fits well with the feelings of anger and unquenchable justice that the series partakes.

I've added the songs to the bottom of the anime playlist (found at the bottom) as well as the opening and ending clips via Youtube are here as well. I'd stock the soundtrack in my store for all you to purchase but sadly it's out of production -_-

Be sure to support Romeo X Juliet, their animators Gonzo and their music artists by purchasing the anime and music.

The New Anime.fm

Took me a sweet long time but here's the much better version of anime.fm that I've had in my mind for a few months. Granted it's still not 100% to what I want and after some feedback from other developers, much more is to come ^_^ Here's a run-down of what is new, and of course, what is planned:

(New)
  • Overall layout change
  • far less ads (no need for ads cluttering the page)
  • blog post share tools like digg, facebook, twitter, etc (as on the Chuck's Anime Shrine blog)
  • added the anime.fm gadget to the design for less clutter and ease of use
  • a Hulu.com plugin with 30 watchable anime/game related series. You can watch full episodes (legally) from many anime series like Naruto Shippuden, One Piece, Astro Boy, Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood, etc. (sorry non-US viewers but as you might know, Hulu.com isn't viewable for you :-(, any legal way to stream anime episodes, I'll be sure to add it.
  • Better summaries of my site Chuck's Anime Shrine and of course Dannychoo.com than the old yahoo pipes version that was on here
  • A feed that ties right into my store for you to buy true licensed anime figures, DVD and music
(Planned changes)
  • fix the rss parser to not show the newest post on this page (oops ^^;;)
  • Will add content to that J-pop News section you might see here, as well as use that space for artist to advertise their music, and/or for lists of CDs to buy to also support artists.
  • Pages themed and based on different genres of music we anime fans like
  • a section dedicated to AMVs
  • a section dedicated to legal streaming anime from Hulu and anywhere else that is legal and in support of the anime industry. (Sorry, no illegal fan dubbing streams, gotta keep the people who create the content in business)
  • a login section either tied in to google or direct to this site
  • ...and possibly a member's section for you guys to post blog posts as well.
Special Note: Of course, please note that the image here in this post and the banner and bg images are not owned by me. All credit goes to the artists. I will eventually get an artist to do custom art for both here and Chuck's Anime Shrine...as well as draw some myself ^^.

K-ON! Music

Good news for you K-ON! fans. Looks as if Playlist.com has both the "Cagayake! GIRLS" and the "Don't Say Lazy" singles by Aki Toyosaki & co. from the K-ON! opening and ending sequences. Naturally I added them to the Anime.fm Anime Playlist here and the anime music section on Chuck's Anime Shrine. If I can get a hold of the whole Cagayake! GIRLS CD, I'll be sure to post it up in my store. Gotta give the music artists their dues of course.

Enjoy K-ON! fans ^_^.

The Format of Anime.fm

After some tweaking of my site's code we now have a blogger blog integrated right into the main page! This blog shall be used for news from the otaku music sphere and to give everyone an update on the newest songs added to the playlists.
The format of Anime.fm is to have everything streaming at your fingertips so you can get it all on one page and to not interrupt the music.
The amv part of the site as of this post is just my music videos on youtube but I will integrate more and make the video section much better in future updates. Stay tuned for more updates.
